Bermuda's Crystal Caves.
Bermuda’s Crystal Caves, “The Island's Oldest Treasure”.
I must admit, I had no idea what to expect when I walked down into these caves. I was thinking they would be something like the Lava Tubes that you find in Hawaii, dark and cold. Nothing of real excitement, unless you’re an avid cave dweller.
I was wrong, it was extravagant and warm!
We were told that we should see both caves.
We opted for just the first cave, then we would decide if we really wanted to upgrade to see another cave. (They have a deal, if you buy one cave ticket you get to upgrade for $10.00 per person to see the other one, it’s a steal. Do it.)
1 Cave- $22.00 + $10.00(upgrade if you choose to) = $32.00usd* per person
*They take US dollars too, so don't worry.
The first cave was the Crystal Cave, it is much smaller than the Fantasy Cave, but still just as marvelous. You walk down a nicely (re-done) pathway to get down into the cave. The guide will show you the original entrance and trust me, you will be thankful they put in a nice sturdy ramp for you.
Both caves have nice entrances. Over the years, things fall and get worn down. The Fantasy Cave has more stairs (88 steps) than the first one, so if you have bad knees then you might want to re-reconsider. Honestly, it was not bad at all, just a tip :)
All the tour guides are extremely knowledgeable and have plenty of jokes to entertain you along the way. You can tell this isn’t the first time they have been down there. I am not going to bore you with all the rock information but, it was really fascinating to hear about it. I mean, I already forgot most of it, however, it was an amazing sight!
I certainly enjoyed the dry humor – ha ha ha
One part I was not a fan of, was when they turn off the lights. Like, no sir. I am still afraid of the dark! But don’t worry it was for like 5 seconds and they let you know it’s coming.
They just want you to see how dark it was when the two young boys found the caves all the way back in the 1900’s. It was very dark! Those two boys were very, very, very brave!
The first cave tour was a bit short and sweet so we opted for the second cave, since it was bigger. I mean we came all the way out to Bermuda! Plus, I think their claim to fame is that Beyoncé preferred the second cave the best. So, that is really the cave you want to see.
Personally, I thought they were both amazing and well worth it. I mean, look at these photos!
